Story of a Bow Street Runner has Growing Fans

Unusual story of a Bow Street Runner in 1810. He is a discharched Green jacket from Britain's famous rifle regiment of the Peninsular War. An ex-officer. He now works in London as one of the new types of policeman and is charged with solving a highway robberry in which a government official is murdered and robbed of valuble information concerning national security.

Our Bow Street Runner (Matthew Hawkwood) is taken into a world of espionage with French secret agents and a villinous American who is making a submarine. The story is a good page turnner that is obviously a little far fetched, but hey! We all like a bit of escapism - don't we? Well this tale had it all and I really enjoyed it. There are more stories to come about Mattew Hawkwood. I shall give them a go too.

A smashing and wonderfully camp song that was and still is; always fun.

This song is as camp as Christmas, but something about it really works. I think its great and oozes of fun Friday and Saturday nights out. When I see this particular clip, it makes me remember a couple of decades back to the late seventies. Even though this song was not out then. When this great Swedish track did come out, I had lived another life and got divorced and I was sort of coming up for air. I was going back out into the night club scene 20 years later and really enjoying myself. This song always brings a mixture of jolly and nice times from two lives I've lived in the more happy go lucky world of Friday and Saturday nights. Those in the late seventies and then again at the end and beggining of the two centuries.

Bloke with his many well trained German Shepards in USA.

I think German Shepards dogs are a wonderful breed. My one is a bitch and is great at guarding the house and garden. She loves to roam around the side drive by the gate and when someone comes to buy eggs, she always lets us know with a bark. Of course our neighbours know her well.

In this YouTube video, a bloke in the USA can walk around with as many as ten German Shepards. Sometimes off the lead, yet they all huddle about him as he walks the streets. How he has managed to train so many is beyond me, but they make for a very fine sight.

Giving You Overload - UK- X-Factor 2014 London (My day trip to watch my son, Ryan, at the X-Factor show)

Watching My son Ryan on the X-Factor.
He is in Overload with pals Joey, Jordie, Ollie and Andy.

I went to the Wembley Arena to see my son Ryan and a boy band he is in. He and his friends, Joey, Ollie, Jordie, and Andy were doing an audition for X-factor. Their band is called Overload

It was great watching so many various hopefuls throughout the day's grand event. Every act was getting ready to do their thing with relatives and friends in support backstage. The whole place was a hive of activity.

By the late evening, Overload was called on stage. We all gathered around the big screen to watch Overload as they went out onto the stage and stood before the 4,000 plus audience and the judges; Simon, Cheryl, Mel and Louis. It was rather nerve-racking because we did see a few acts go out. Some of it had been a little heartbreaking. You see family and friends supporting those who got mauled by the judges.

As we watched on the big t.v. screen with Dermot O'Leary facing us, we all crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Overload walked out on the stage. We watched them disappear up the stairs and the audience erupted into cheers as the boys came upon the t.v. screen. It was quite euphoric because there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm for the lads.

The judges, especially Mel and Cheryl, were asking loads of questions and Simon kept saying, "Can we hear the song please?"

However, Mel and Cheryl kept asking more varied questions to lightheartedly wind Simon up. Eventually, the boys kicked off with their own song called; No, No, No. They sounded excellent and the audience loved them. Cheering and clapping and some even dancing.

Simon stopped the song just before it ended and asked them to sing something else. This they did and to a good reception from the judges. They got four yes votes and came off the stage delighted while all us parents, siblings and friends jumped for joy and hugged them.

It was a great day out and Overload getting their four yes votes was the cherry on the cake. Wonderful event and a fabulous memory for all. Go, go, go Overload!

The Monkees from the 60s

I'm going back to around 1968 or 1969 in the U.K. As a kid, it was Grandstand or the World of Sport, depending which side had the motorbike scrabbling and stock car racing. Then the wrestling and then the football results. Then came shows like The Monkees, Thunderbirds, and Doctor Who (Patrick Troughton by then)

I wanted the world to be Saturday forever. No school and the world of retro sixties t.v. forever. Outside was the hussle and bussle of London with stall market places etc. The world seemed so uncomplicated to the kiddie me. Only on Saturdays though.

The Wonderful time of the Supremes.

Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and the late Flo Ballard were the 'wonderful' singers of the Supremes. As a kid in the 60s, their songs were always on the radio. This clip; 'Where did our love go.' is one of their most popular. The sound brings back so many retro memories for me and I'm sure it does for many other people too.  Close your eyes and listen to, or watch the porthole of YouTube and go back to that wonderful retro 60s moment.

Southend Geezers Dropped the Ball!

After a very encouraging start to the season, Southend United are beginning to struggle. They really need to get back on track. Come on geezers! You all know you can do it.
